IPL 2026: Ayush Mhatre Retired Out
One of the biggest talking points of the match was Ayush Mhatre walking back to the pavilion despite being well-set on 59. In a rare tactical move known as “Retired Out,” the CSK management recalled Mhatre to send in power-hitter Shivam Dube for the final overs.
Addressing the move later, Mhatre showed immense maturity:
“The team needed clean hitting at that moment. Shivam Dube is better at that than I am. Team interests always come before personal milestones.”
The strategy paid off, as Dube’s quickfire 20 off 10 balls pushed the total past 210, proving to be the winning margin.
